Maria Menya Nakeny, 34 years old, had to face a hard challenge against Tb in Karamoja, Uganda. The support and commitment from CUAMM team and the health operators, together with constancy and continuity of care, have been essential allies to win her fight.
In 2020, in the midst of the lockdown, Doctors with Africa CUAMM went to visit patients at their homes to make sure they did not stop treatment: 85% of treatments were successfully completed, and the dropout rate was down to 11%. These successes show that also in Africa it is important to focus on the community.
Gazebos, stretchers and screens have been delivered today by Doctors with Africa Cuamm thanks to the U.S. Government. They will help to reorganize the flow of patients who access the hospital. The donation is funded by USAID through the “Italian Response to Covid-19” project.
New IT system delivered by Doctors with Africa CUAMM to San Patrignano community. Funded by the U.S. Government through the “Italian Response to Covid-19” project, the new equipment has been helping to keep running the services of the community even during the pandemic, including consultations with external doctors and therapists and meeting with families, for the health and wellbeing of the hosts.
